Stop Staring

I was out doing a little window shopping today an Subiaco when I came across an out of the way store. Unfortunatly I can't remember its name but I did remember the name of one of the brands they sell. It was love at first sight. The brand is called 'Stop staring' and it's an american label owned by two girls who handmake all the clothes themselves in America. I raced home and found there website (http://www.stopstaringclothing.com/). It's so sad to be broke when I need/want every single garment they make. I am unable to show my favourites because the site won't let me save the picture. Just take my word for it and have a look see!

LOVE

A few beautiful things to brighten up anyone's day

My 22nd year

Sorry, I have been ignoring my blog lately. Uni has been getting pretty full on the last few weeks leading up to end of semester. Seeing that pretty much all I have had time for is art, I'm going to put on some peices I've been working on...

The next peice is a collaboration. We get given a sculpture by someone else (in my case a car headlight), photograph it, then make it into something new. After that it gets handed on to another and so on so forth. Here are my before and after pics.

They're venus fly traps if anyones wondering.

Other than that, I had my birthday yesterday and had my hair done. It was nice except I didn't have time to put makeup on before so I had to look at myself in the mirror for several hours looking like my bed had spewed me up that morning. It's now a brighter red, about an inch shorter :(, and i have bangs.

chef extraordinaire

I never cook and today I spent most of the day doing so in preperation for a dinner party. I HATE recipes partly because I'm to lazy to read them but mostly because I think I know better. NEVER AGAIN!!!

One good thing that came from this is that I was able to wear my pretty little apron that I bought for no apparent reason.

A new season of Haute Couture always brings joy into my life but, when I first saw the Christian Dior S/S 2011 collection I may or may not have gotten a little too excited (ok I did). If you havn't already seen it take a look (http://www.vogue.com.au/fashion+shows/haute+couture/). John Galliano really has outdone himself. This collection, he has stripped everything back to the essence of the original Dior while still making it his own. Here are a few of my love, love, LOVEs...

spots&spots

Well today I set myself a task of making an all spot outfit work. Now I'm not a huge fan of spots nor do I tend to wear a lot of pattern so this was a bit of a problem for me (either that or I need to find better things to do with my time than setting myself pointless outfit tasks). Let me know if you think I failed out succeeded.

The Hatter

Today I didn't have my usual doctors appointment so I decided to be productive and purchase some lovely new fabrics and such to make some hats. Unfortunatly I got distracted and ended up getting about a dozen books from vinnies because they looked so lovely and old and have that beautiful old book smell
(mmmmmm yummy). I also found this beautiful old necklace. It's gold and I normally never do gold unless I'm attempting to pull off bling bling (which is basically never). Here's a pic and tell me what you think...

On another matter, I bought this hat about a year ago from belle bijoux (http://www.bellebijouxaustralia.com/) and I stand by my purchase because I absolutely LOVE this hat but I'm having trouble finding an outfit to wear it with. I have worn it once with a red dress and black jacket but I would love some suggestions.
On the wishlist front, while I was in Sydney visiting friend I came across these hats by a milliner called Lil Jen. It really was love at first sight and since then I have been obsessing over these hats. I whole heartedly suggest you check out http://www.liljen.com.au/ It will change your life. Here are a few favourites:

Well I had a big weekend planned that turned into a small weekend. However I did manage to make it to my friends zine launch at HQ on friday night. The exhibition is on for 2 weeks (me thinks) so if you're in the area check it out.

Another exhibition that is on at the moment is Hatched. It's showing at Pica and is a showcase of 35 of the best recent art graduates from across the country. Hatched is showing until the 5th of June and is free so go and eyeball the new talent.

Welcome

Well, it's been a long time coming but i have finally set up a space were i can display all my creations and inspiration.
I love, love, LOVE all things fashion (make up design, fashion design, millinery, and street fashion) so i thought it was about time i got my act together, stopped talking about making a blog and actually did it. I guess the best place to start off is to show some of my work to present.

So here are some (kind of) wearable art peices i made in my first year of uni. The work as a whole was pretty much about making a series of wearable items that acted like a second skin to the wearer. Thus they are kinda abject and, hopefully, a little gross. I especially like the peices that my beautiful friend anna wears because she looks so sweet and innocent while wearing such fleshy peices.

On a different note, I thought I would include some photos of make up I have done. You'll recognise Anna in these photos again (I use her a lot and she takes it because she loves me). They are inspired by Pat McGrath's make up for Christian Dior. I wasn't very inventive as I was still learning at the time :)

Finally, these are some photos from my first and only shoot thus far. It was loads of fun and Anna (photographer), Cas (Model), and I had a good time playing dress ups like the grown ups on the river in Dalkeith. The clothes are all designed and made by yours truely.
